The traditional birthstone for the month of February and the 6th wedding anniversary gemstone, amethyst is a beautiful purple quartz. South Carolina named the Amethyst as its ‘state gemstone’ in 1969.

The word Amethyst comes from the Greek word amethystus, meaning "not drunk" and was believed to be a remedy and preventative for drunkenness. 
Cape Amethyst is a form of amethyst with layers or bands of milky white quartz and as the name implies.

Amethyst is believed to be a meditative and calming stone bringing balance, patience, peace and inner strength.  It has a sedative energy that promotes happiness, contentment, and emotional stability.
